ABOUT US
Emergence International Pty Ltd is a consulting, research and evaluation, facilitation and executive development provider that helps public sector and not-for-profit organisations and their leaders tackle their most complex and adaptive challenges and opportunities.
What started as a one person practice, founded by Phillip Bonser in 2000, is rapidly becoming a network of good friends and talented colleagues who engage collaboratively with senior executives and their teams in consultative, coaching and sounding board relationships to help them:
- Take timely and effective action that gets things done and achieves particular organisational goals and objectives.
- Generate new understandings about their work, the changing contexts within which it is taking place and what action is needed.
- Develop new policy, strategy options and plans.
- Undertake research and evaluation projects to inform the ongoing development of practice, policy and strategy.
- Develop leadership, team and organisational capability.
In our view leaders and managers in organisations of all kinds are increasingly faced with complex, adaptive challenges for which there are no known “solutions”. In many instances the traditional roles and expectations others have of leaders to provide a vision and guide to where to go and what to do simply cannot be met. There is a clear need for the development of a more tentative, exploratory and participative approach which draws on the collective knowledge and wisdom of everyone who is involved in the work and which allows for and enables everyone involved to explore their way about rather than attempting to map too much of it out in advance.
For some time now at Emergence we have been exploring and adopting cutting edge research and inquiry across a range of disciplines so we can better enable our clients to develop practices and approaches that enable this more exploratory approach.
