Strategic planning and policy development
We have developed a wide repertoire of creative ways to help people think about and plan their work. These range from the more traditional strategic planning approaches that suit stable and ordered situations to more innovative and creative approaches that help people “make sense” of complex and highly dynamic situations and contexts and rapidly generate responses and “next action” plans.
We have also been adopting a more integrated approach to thinking about policy and strategy development in the public sector that recognises the need for alignment among the public value government seeks to create and how this is perceived, the “political” processes of seeking agreement among the various stakeholders, the implementability of the strategy or policy (especially across levels of government or between agencies and providers) and what the evidence base suggests about what is known to work.
