“Embedded” Consulting

We use this term to describe a variety of situations in which we might work within a business unit or group for a while, both as an extra pair of hands, helping directly with specific work and as a catalyst for feedback and reflection about mental models, systems and and processes. One of the things we have found works really well in these situations is taking on a role we call “conversation starter”. The more we work with a group of people the more frequently we discover opportunities for people to have a conversation and share information across functional or role defined boundaries. We frequently add value by helping get these conversations started.
